Vienna Day 2

Current Location: On a night train to Venice

This train is alot nicer than the one we took from Germany. So far we have a private room(this one sleeps 4), but I think we're picking up 2 more in Salzburg. We have a real door, and the beds, while not what you would call comfortable, are definitely at least 2 steps up from the last train we slept on.

Today was a continuation of yesterday, as each day usually is, except these two particular days flowed well together. We slept in, breakfast @ 9:30, packed up, dilly-dallied around till checkout @ 11, and made our way to the Schonbrunn Palace. This place is enormous!!! 1400+ rooms in the thing, and according to our #1 guide throughout this journey, is rivaled only by the Versailles. It was the summer residence of the Hapsburgs. I can't believe that this place could be wasted as just a summer "home". This took up most of our afternoon, so we headed back into town for an early dinner, drank strum (early wine), wandered the streets some more, ended up at a bookstore where we got 2 new books, had some cappuccinos, and set out to the train station to catch our night train.

A couple of things we noticed while in Vienna:
* The city is overrun with poorly costumed salesmen in Mozart vests and wigs trying to sell you "a show for tonight"
* The city is in love with their precious Sisi (Elisabeth)... Shes everywhere (museums, streets, cafes, EVERYWHERE)... The weird part about that is that nobody really cared about her before she was assassinated, and she didn't really care about Vienna either)
* I thought I was gonna be able to come up with 3 things, but I couldn't.
